The Kindergarten Song

I'm feeling very musical tonight. I'm aching to write some lyrics, but there's too many people around...I need to be secluded to write. I'm finding it really difficult to write new music because I still have incomplete songs with music and no lyrics. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get some time to write a few, because I feel like I need to...I have a lot to write about.

But anyway, the purpose of this entry. I've been wanting to do this for a while...I'm not really sure why. I'm going to share a song called "The Kindergarten Song" with you. Not that anybody reads this, but as I keep saying, this journal is mainly for myself for future reference anyway. The title of the song comes from the fact it is completely immature. It's about a girl who had a huge impact on my life. I'm not sure why, she just did. We had a really really strong friendship, and then something happened, and I've found it really hard to let go, despite the fact it happened over two years ago. The lyrics show my feelings on the situation: the fact that I completely and wholly blame her, which is an immature thing to do. I think that when something goes wrong with a friendship or a relationship or whatever, the blame needs to be shared around, because 98% of the time, it's not just one person's fault. However, with this particular friendship, I haven't been able to take my own advice. It's also immature in the way that I am saying "you can scream and shout, but you started it"...taking all blame off myself. And just for reference: the parts in the "[]"'s are not sung.

So here it is, The Kindergarten Song.

THE KINDERGARTEN SONG
[And the children sing...]
Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me...

A million songs will never make you see the shit that you put me through.
You prove over and over again that our friendship meant nothing to you.

The knife to your skin broke any kind of trust we may have had.
Consequences mean we can't be what you wanted us to be.
And you can scream and shout, but you started it, yeah you started it.
And you can point fingers, but you started it, yeah you started it.

Disposable people must make great toys for you.
Let's all play "the trust game" until someone better appears.

The knife to your skin broke any kind of trust we may have had.
Consequences mean we can't be what you wanted us to be.
And you can cry and beg, but you started it, yeah you started it.
And you can point fingers, but you started it, yeah you started it.

I love the way you communicate when there's no-one else.
Clear your mind, now wonder why there's nobody else...
(Do you see now?)

And you can sink lower, but you started it, yeah, you started it.
You can stay trapped in denial, but you started it, yeah, you started it.
And when you're all alone, you can think of this, I hope you think of this.
You'll see that it's your fault.
Since you started it, you can finish it.

[...And the children sing]
"Sticks and stones may break my bones but you can never hurt me..."

There's another song that deals with a similar subject, but about a different person...but I'm not ready to share those lyrics yet.
